I’m Devon, the owner of Scala Pictures.

Like you, I looked around in a sea of wedding videos and wanted to see something different from the cookie cutter, formulaic, one-size-fit- all wedding film that could have almost any couple inserted into the dress & tux, and still look like the same exact video. When I realized there was room for new voices and new perspectives in this industry, I wanted to be one of them.

I didn’t have a videographer at my wedding.

Say what? Yes, you read that right. It was a destination wedding in 2014, I was 22, and I just didn’t really think twice about having one. I can’t tell you how much I wish I could go back and change that decision! I know firsthand what it’s like to plan a wedding, spend time figuring out the flow, the details, the invitation list, the food, and the flowers, only to regret not having a tangible way of reliving the moments and the emotions.

Through my own experience, I’ve come to truly believe that no one should forget their wedding day.

I care about making each video a handcrafted film about what makes your unique love beautiful.   I think every one of our stories is different and important, and thus, worthy of investing in and remembering. My biggest desire is to create wedding films that will candidly showcase the gamut of human emotion and connection- I believe that that’s what will be significant five, ten, fifty years from now.

All of that being said, I also just really freakin’ love weddings!

Who doesn’t right? They are awesome and I cannot believe I get to film them as my full time job. I'm generally a one woman show, and if you’ll have me at your wedding, you’ll find that I generally have a huge smile on my face as I’m watching what I’m capturing. It’s truly what I love to do. I also love: puppies, my two cats Rigby and Jude (and let’s be honest, any/all animals ever), burritos, poke bowls and my husband Brighton. That’s a weird list, but I’m okay with that. The road that lead me to this place in my career has been an eventful one, and if you’re interested in reading more on my personal journey, you can find that here. Otherwise, it’s YOU that I want to learn more about.
