Hey there!

I think it's kind of cool that you want to know more about me!  And when I say me, I mean hey! I'm Devon, the owner, cinematographer and editor behind Scala Pictures.  I'm generally a one woman show, and if you’ll have me at your wedding you’ll probably find me floating around capturing all the things mostly from afar. (More on my process here).

I kind of hate talking about myself but I'm constantly asking couples to let me into all their personal details, watch them kiss all day and be a big part of the most important day of their lives, so I figure it's only fair I tell you who you'll have following you around on your wedding day!  One of my favorite things in life has always been travel and seeing new things ("Just Around the Riverbend" was my personal anthem since age 5).  I love being out on the town, finding a new restaurant (better yet, a cocktail bar),  or coffee spot.  I love jumping into the ocean or going to Disneyland whenever possible, and if you are what you eat, I'm definitely a burrito.

I started out just kind of going through the motions after finishing up college (BA in Psychology, super necessary for this career, jk) to secure a steady job and never expected to be very excited about what I did for work.  When my husband urged me to go find something that I loved instead of something I could tolerate, I fell into this completely by chance and it was pretty crazy-awesome.  If you want to know a little bit more about that journey, check it out here.

Since then, I've become super passionate about capturing the adventure that is love.  The knowledge that I get to create a lasting memory of a really beautiful moment in time between two people is what keeps me going and I couldn't imagine doing anything else.  My ultimate goal is to capture you, just as you are.  I love a good pose now and again, but I mostly find myself shouting from afar, "Just hang out with each other!"  I find that I really connect with couples who love the journey as much as the destination, who want their day to be about them even if it breaks tradition, and who are unabashedly themselves.  If that's you, let's talk.

If you're still reading, it's pretty cool that you went though all of that! :D  Now that I've gone on and on, I can't wait to hopefully hear about YOU!
